Mixed Doubles-Live Updates

19:34-Kerena Dykes throws the first ball of this year's championships. Good pocket hit leads to an opening strike.

19:35-Defending Men's champ Darragh Mcloughlin opens his tournament with a harsh 7 pin after a good pocket hit.

19:36-A mixed start to the event, with a handful of strikes and plenty of single pins standing.

19:40-Nicky O'Malley the best starter with a double, but a large number of players struggling to start quickly with kicking corner pins proving to be an issue.

19:42-Graham Turner begins to build momentum with a double to go with two opening spares. His partner Kerena Dykes also starts solidly, but fails to convert a single pin spare in the third frame.


19:43-Darragh McLoughlin struggles to find a shot early on, opening three of his first four frame to   leave himself on 46 for four.

19:46-Sarah Finlay opened with a split and an open frame, but she builds momentum with a strike and three spares in her next four frames. Her partner Nicky O'Malley followed his opening double with two open frames, but tries to get his game going again with a strike in the fifth.

19:47-Mark Hinchcliffe is one of the strongest starters, with a double sandwiched between three high-count spares leaving himbreaking 100 at the half-way stage in game one.

19:50-Dave English covers for an open first frame with two strikes and three nine-spares.  His partner Carol Catchpole struggles with inconsistency as she strikes three times but also opens three times in her opening six frames.

19:51-Nobody as yet is taking control in the opening game, with the majority of players struggling to put together a string of strikes.

19:54-John Wilson is keeping himself in with the chance of a good openiong game, mixing the odd strike with a classy spare game to see him get to 119 for six with a nine-spare in the seventh to work off. His partner Anne Quinn is also keeping a solid game going with a double followed by a nine-spare getting her to 105 for six as she tackles frame eight.

19:56-Dave English puts a four-bagger together to put himself in the position to finish with a big score. His partner Catchpole's inconsistent first game leaves her with a game of 148.

19:57-McLoughlin and Burke post an opening game of 333. Bell and Cummins post 317. Egan and Cullen post 361. Finlay and O'Malley post 384. English and Catchpole post 383. Byrne and Lyons post 349. O'Connor and Larkin post 368. Turner and Dykes post 432 to hold the one-fame lead. Only one team shoot over scratch in game one.

20:02-Tom Byrne buries an eight-ten split in the pocket in opening frame of game two, much to the amusement of Colin Bell in the pair next to him.

20:03-Kerena Dykes opens with five-in-row in game two. Her partner Turner opens with three strikes and a nine-spare but opens frame five with a 2-10 split.

20:04-Colin Bell opens game two with three-in-a-row. Dykes now goes front six. Darragh McLoughlin opens game two with three nine-spares. He shot 172 in game one with his spare game letting him down.

20:05-Dykes leaves a single pin in frame seven. She converts without a problem.

20:06-Dave English opens with front three. His partner Catchpole seems to have found a consistent shot, opening game two with a nine-spare and two strikes.

20:07-Hannah Cullen opens game two inconsistently, with three strikes but two opens in the first five frames. Her partner Egan is suffering from much the same problem.

20:10-Yvonne Randell closes out game two with a five-bagger to shoot 248. Dykes shoots 239, her partner Turner shooting 213 for a combined score of 452. They now have a commanding lead.

20:14-Tom Byrne converts 2-10 split in frame 4, but is still struggling to get the ball to the pocket. His partner Lyons, however, sits on a double through six frames.

20:15-Egan and Cullen both put a string of strkies together to push thier games up. Bell on the same pair is pacing a 279 game through 8 frames.

20:17-Scores look to be improving, especially down the easier side of the house from lane 1 up. Scores still fairly low on pairs 9 and 10 and 11 and 12.

20:20Darragh McLoughlin really struggling to get into any sort of rhythm, and back to back splits leaves him on just 128 through nine frames.

20:21-O'Connor and Larkin post 451. English and Catchpole post 440. Clarke and Molloy post 355. Burke and McLoughlin post 320. Egan and Cullen post 435. Bell and Cummins post 422. Byrne and Lyons post 352. O'Malley and Finlay post 337.

20:25-Turner opens game three with seven-in-a-row. Dykes also continues to strike regularly.

20:27-Wilson and Quinn post 402.

20: 30-Turner now front nine.

20:31-Egan opens with a turkey. His partner Cullen opens nine-spare double.

20:32-McLoughlin steadies with a nine-spare between two strikes to open game three.

20:33-Turner buries an 8-pin in the tenth frame. Finishes with a 279. Dykes shoots 206 for a combined score of 485.

20:34-Tom Byrne opens game three with four-in-a-row.

20:35-O'Connor struggles to 94 for 5 in game three. His partner Larkin throws a turkey fromframes 4-6 to keep their medal push alive.

20:36-Egan and Cullen continue where they left off in game 2, both striking for fun as they try to keep within distance of Turner and Dykes.

20:37-Nickey O'Malley pacing 290 in game three through six frames. His partner Finlay also scoring well in game three.

20:38-Egan continues to pace 279. Scores improving considerably as the session progresses as bowlers get used now to the dry-ish condition.

20:47- O'Connor/Larkin post 411. Catchpole/English post 390. Cummins/Bell post 333. Cullen/Egan post 504. Byrne/Lyons post 336. Finlay/O'Malley post 460. Burke/Mcloughlin post314. Clarke/Molloy post 349.

20:50-English starts final game with a double.

20:51-Turner and Dykes struggling a little in final game. Egan and Cullen could capitolise after a massive game three.

20:52-Defending champ McLoughlin's struggle continues with an open frame in the final game.

20:53-Scores dropping away again in final game as lanes begin to really dry up. Outside shot is pretty much gone, meaning a lot of bowlers are now forced to play a tight line inside.

20:55-Nickey O'Malley opens with a turkey despite the tricky lane breakdown.

20:57-Colin Bell puts four-bagger together to put himself in a good position to score big in game four. His partner Cummins is struggling to get to strike however.

20:59-Turner and Dykes post final game of 407. Randell/Dagg post final game 391.

21:01-Cullen puts together a four-bagger and bacs it up with an eight-spare in the 8th frame. Egan strikes in frame 8 to sit on 147 for seven. The pair look like shooting another big score as thier lane breakdown runs in their favour, as well as both throwing good shots.

21:04-McLoughlin gets back on track with a five-bagger as he looks to build up confidence and a consistent shot for tomorrow's events.

21:08-Cullen and Egan post 406. Cummins/Bell post 381. Catchpole/English post 380. O'Connor/Larkin post 407.

21:11-Turner/Dykes take gold medal with a total of 1776. Cullen and Egan take look to have taken silver with a 1706 total. O'Connor/Larkin in provisional bronze medal position with 4 teams still to finish their final game.

21:15-O'Connor/Larkin confirmed as bronze medal winners.
