Mixed Doubles-Live Updates
19:34-Kerena Dykes throws the first ball of this year's championships. Good pocket hit leads to an opening strike.
19:35-Defending Men's champ Darragh Mcloughlin opens his tournament with a harsh 7 pin after a good pocket hit.
19:36-A mixed start to the event, with a handful of strikes and plenty of single pins standing.
19:40-Nicky O'Malley the best starter with a double, but a large number of players struggling to start quickly with kicking corner pins proving to be an issue.
19:42-Graham Turner begins to build momentum with a double to go with two opening spares. His partner Kerena Dykes also starts solidly, but fails to convert a single pin spare in the third frame.
19:43-Darragh McLoughlin struggles to find a shot early on, opening three of his first four frame to leave himself on 46 for four.

National Championships Note
Just a note that I will be posting instant updates throughout Friday night's National Championship Mixed Doubles.
I won't be able to do instant updates for the men's events as I'll be playing, but I'll be trying to get updates posted immediately after the squads finish. I will also try to do instant updates for the women's squads if possible.
Keep up with all the goings on at this year's Nationals over the course of the two weekends of play at Bowltalk, the only place for instant (where possible) and immediate updates from the tournament.
Good luck to all those competing this year in the tournament in Leisureplex Stillorgan.

Irish National Championships 2011
This weekend sees the start of this year's Irish National Championships in Leisureplex Stillorgan. Defending Champions Darragh McLoughlin and Aimee Kellegher will be looking to get a good start in the opening weekend events.
The tournament opens with the Mixed Doubles on Friday February 18th at 7.30. Although the Mixed Doubles does not go towards the All Events final, there is still the matter of gold, silver and bronze medals to be won.
Saturday morning sees the first event towards the All Events, the singles. 31 men and 16 women are currently entered for the five-game singles event. The singles begins at 8 am for the men and 10.30 am for the ladies.
On Sunday focus turns to the doubles event. Bowlers play four games for this event with individual pinfall going towards each competitors' All Events total. Play commences at 8.30 am for the men, with the ladies doubles taking place at 6 pm the same evening.
As always the tournament runs over two weekends, so bowlers get a five-day break to think over their progress so far.
The tournament starts up again with the trios event on Friday February 25th. The men's event begins at 7.30 pm, with the ladies' event starting at 9.30. Bowlers will bowl three games, and individual scores will again be added to each competitors All Events total.
Th final qualifying event for the All Events final, the three-game team event, is scheduled for Saturday morning at 9 am. Men's teams consist of five competitors, while the ladies' teams are made up of four players.
After the team event, competitors individual total scores are calculated, with the top ten men and top six ladies qualifying for the All Events finals. The men will play nine games and the ladies will play five, with pinfall carried forward, to determine who will be the Irish National Champions for 2011. The tournament opens with the Mixed Doubles on Friday February 18th at 7.30. Although the Mixed Doubles does not go towards the All Events final, there is still the matter of gold, silver and bronze medals to be won.
Saturday morning sees the first event towards the All Events, the singles. 31 men and 16 women are currently entered for the five-game singles event. The singles begins at 8 am for the men and 10.30 am for the ladies.
On Sunday focus turns to the doubles event. Bowlers play four games for this event with individual pinfall going towards each competitors' All Events total. Play commences at 8.30 am for the men, with the ladies doubles taking place at 6 pm the same evening.
As always the tournament runs over two weekends, so bowlers get a five-day break to think over their progress so far.
The tournament starts up again with the trios event on Friday February 25th. The men's event begins at 7.30 pm, with the ladies' event starting at 9.30. Bowlers will bowl three games, and individual scores will again be added to each competitors All Events total.
Th final qualifying event for the All Events final, the three-game team event, is scheduled for Saturday morning at 9 am. Men's teams consist of five competitors, while the ladies' teams are made up of four players.
After the team event, competitors individual total scores are calculated, with the top ten men and top six ladies qualifying for the All Events finals. The men will play nine games and the ladies will play five, with pinfall carried forward, to determine who will be the Irish National Champions for 2011. Weber Cup on Sky Sports
The Sky Sports viewing schedule for the 2010 Weber Cup has been announced.
The Weber Cup took place in the Barnsley Metrodome from Novermber 12th to 14th last year, with ten of the World's best bowlers competing in tenpin bowling's version fo the Ryder Cup.
Europe's four-man team took on the four-man outfit from the United States over the three days of competition in a combination of singles, doubles and team baker matches.
The tournament has previously been shown live on Sky Sports, but the decision was taken this year to not broadcast matches live. Instead each match was filmed and a viewing schedule put together in. Altogether the tournament will be shown in eighteen one-hour programmes.
The matches will be broadcast over the course of the next three months, one programme-a-week, with the first braodcast going out on February 9th. The first show will feature the first team baker match and the first singles match between European captain Osku Palermaa and Mr. 300 Tommy Jones.
The programmes will be broadcast on a variation of the Sky Sports channels. The first programme airs on Sky Sports 4 at 8 pm. Each programme will also be repeated either later the same evening or the next day.
